I have visited many art galleries but was privileged to be in New York last year.  While there I visited the MoMA (museum of modern art) and the Guggenheim both of which are spectacular in their design.    Kandinsky and Jackson Pollock featured heavily at the Guggenheim which was great as I was doing research on them at the time. This included some of their very early work which gave me greater insight into the common  images of their work which we so often see.  It is of great interest to me and delight that so many great pieces of European  art can be found housed at the MoMA. These beautiful works of art seem to fill each space with colour and they leave the viewer breathless as the canvas comes to life.

Louise Bourgeois at the Tate On a recent trip to London with my girlfriend we got the chance to pop into the Tate Modern and wondered round the Louise Bourgeois exhibition
currently on there and  We loved it.  Though I must admit that I was not that familiar
with her work at the time.  I now feel that I was privileged to get a small glimpse into the heart of someone that I might never have the chance to meet  But that is what art is, a window to our soul and age has no boundaries. The exhibition is well considered in chronological order with much to see. Thought provoking and at times amusing though her sculptures are not in themselves always things of gentle beauty they are however well worth the time to explore.
Whilst visiting friends over the new year I found myself with enough time to go to the mima - Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art.  Wow what a fabulous building in the heart of the town centre and to my delight the current exhibition is the Bauhaus School 1919-1933 which explores different aspects of the movement, through paintings, drawing, furniture, design and photographs of original Bauhaus architecture by Hans Engels.  On the second floor gallery
is “Language of Vision” that presents work by contemporary artists influenced by Bauhaus.  All this and more is contained in this stunning architectural building. This  was my second visit to this gallery and it will not be my last and I would urge anyone who get’s the chance to find the time to to go.
