Grind
60 x 73 cm
Oil on canvas
£365.oo

I have shown this painting many times, most recently at the Leedgallery event in Chelmsford. But I had made a point of not saying much about it.  The feed-back I have received tells me that I have failed!  Some think it is a self portrait, others that it is just dreary and sad. It seems that most just see the surface of this painting.  What in fact this painting is about is to praise those heroic saintly figures who are crushed together on trains who are silently enduring  the daily Grind, imprisoned in the need to pay the bills and support their families.  However his back is straight and a halo adorns his head. Before him lies the brighter colours of hope and upon his cheek is the tear of my sadness for his condition.  Please feel free too drop me a line and let me know what you think.
